Key Water Purification Properties of Moringa Seeds Revealed

On November 20, 2019, an article was published by Technology Networks about the unique water purification properties that Moringa Tree Seed carries.

According to the discovery, the seed extract is not only capable of separating unwanted particles from water sedimenting impurities but can also act as an antimicrobial treatment where unprocessed seed powder may sediment over 90% of a raw water’s bacteria.

Researchers at ILL (Institut Laue-Langevin) and ESRF ( European Synchrotron Radiation Facility), a collaboration between Universities in Africa and Europe, have demonstrated how specific proteins from Moringa interact.

University researchers uncovered how the unprocessed extract from Moringa seeds can be used in water purification. While the seed extract carries different properties, researchers were able to identify specific mechanisms underlying the extract’s water purification properties by focusing on the extract’s particular protein.
