Global ultrapure water technology revenues expected to reach $4.4B by 2014

Ultrapure water technology suppliers expect revenues to reach $4.4B in 2014 according to the McIlvaine Company study issued in their publication, “Ultrapure Water World Markets”. The study also revealed that the power industry remains the largest purchaser of ultrapure water equipment.

Geographical analysis revealed that East Asia, wherein several new semiconductor plants were constructed, is a rapidly growing market for ultrapure water technology. More new coal-fired boilers are will be installed in China each year, with a total that outnumbers yearly installations in Europe, Africa and the US combined. The rising generics manufacturing industry in East Asian countries also contributes to the growing demand for ultrapure water technologies in these regions.

A variety of industrial applications including filtration, purification and degassing require ultrapure water. Contamination is prevented by using special materials and consumables including replacement membranes and ion-exchange resins.
